It's nice to be back!

A big thanks to Richard. I've no idea what occured. nor do I need to know why the forum was offline for a few days. I am however grateful to be back in contact with people I consider distant friends which is especially pertinant at this difficult time.
I appreciate the forum is probably more trouble than it's worth to the business, but thank you again Richard for putting us up and putting up with us.

Kevin.

My guess is the domain expired. I think they last for 2 years. Like you, ESBlonde, I am grateful that Richard renewed it.

I was thinking that we are probably akin to a random group of old guys who, through happening to frequent the same pub (forum) every Thursday evening for many years, have come to know each other. There are seldom any other customers these days and the landlord is not earning enough from us so it should be no surprise that one day we will come and find the pub has been demolished.

I felt sad that in an instant I had lost you all. As the moderator here I can see everyone's email address. I have copied them so that, maybe now in 2 years, should the forum close, we have a way to either stay in contact or to find another quiet pub somewhere. I am on TheFretBoard but that feels like the pub has been replaced by a busy rush hour train station platform, completely the wrong place to just chill out with some old mates.

Good to see Richard dropped another 20p into the meter :-) Or possibly a tad more than 20p :-(

I think you sum up the sentiment quite nicely there @Lester.
I'm also on the Fretboard as is @Megi, but finding individuals from here on there seemed like a daunting prospect.

I did contact Richard online at the shop and though he didn't reply I was amazed the forum came back a day or two later. So thank you Richard.

I think maybe once we are allowed out to play again, I shall make a point of meeting a few of you as and when I venture to your parts of the world. That may be a 5 year project, but a worthy one I suspect. There will be beer involved!

    Beer? I’m in!

Lester, that’s really good to know. That’s really good of you to think of contacting everyone outside of the forum if the good ship does go down. At least we all know that the ties that bind won’t severed forever ! You lot are a good bunch and it’s good to be able to chat and discuss things here.

I actually contacted Richard too, via the sales email address on the other website, so I hope he doesn’t feel bugged. But hey, we’re all here now! Phew!

Sorry folks - but reporting in, have been off the forum for a month or two again - difficult times for all of us, and some additional stresses at the moment. But if I'd found this place gone it would have been upsetting to have lost contact with you all, glad it continues - agree with the bunch of old blokes sentiment really, and a lovely thought that one day we might actually meet up in a pub somewhere.

I finished a guitar! (build number 7), and modded another one with new Ben Fletcher pickups (possibly the most re-pickup'd guitar in the world) so will bung some photos up for you. And oops ordered another one - pointy Ibanez speed machine lol, which is arriving today - mid life crisis is still happening it seems, combined with a bit of Covid deflection, but we all need something. :)

I'm a bit beyond mid life now but glad to still be here. And to see you too.

Good to know you’re not giving up on us, Graham:) Upgrading guitars is a really economic way of feeling that you have a new guitar. I did the same recently too.
I have a Burns Marquee that I wasn’t playing much, and really wanted a guitar with two mini humbuckers, so I too got in touch with Ben Fletcher and ordered two gold pickups. They are just fantastic. Lovely and chimey with enough girth to rock as well. I’ll post some pictures somewhere.
