New (*Very* Laid Back) Song

This is the first take / first draft of a new song. It's a bit too much of a rip-off a Tom Waits' song for me to progress it any further. But I'll post it here simply because I haven't posted any playing in an age. It's all played on the Martin 00015m and each track was the first draft - hence why the chords don't always match :-)

That Summer's Love

That Summer's Love

The sunshine on your face always made me smile
And the warm breeze reminds me of the miles
That we rode when life was young
Before the stitches became undone
That summer love, that summer's love

Racing the red kites cross the sky
"I can see the sea" I heard you cry
There was salt in the air
Freedom everywhere
That summer love, that summer's love

Sky-bound roads and misty mountain tops
You double-dared me along the sheer drops
There was lust in your eyes
We believed that we could fly
That summer love, that summer's love

Not a day goes by when I don't sit and mourn
For a second chance to take a different turn
I wonder where you might be
Do you still can see the sea?
That summer love, that summer's love
That summer love, that summer's love
That summer love, that summer's love

I was able to sing along to that. Thanks Derek.

That has an atmosphere and a mood about it Derek and it does have an instantly memorable melody line and chorus. So it works regardless of any first draft glitches and idiosyncrasies*.

Nowt wrong with a rip off ... let's call it an homage instead!

    *Thank goodness for spell checker.

A hint of the Jackson Browne/James Taylor about that one Derek, which is certainly a good thing in my book, although you're still very much your own man, which is also a good thing. Very nice indeed anyway mate, top stuff. :)
