I guess Joe Satriani will go into a music shop some day and no-one will know who he is ....

Lol yup. Nowadays, it's probably the only place where people WOULD know who he is!

This is what my boy, Ali, plays when he goes into a music shop

:open_mouth: Is that a Jason Becker tune? Simply amazing...

I just play some chords, noodle around with some jazz/fusion licks, and if there is someone nearby making me feel self conscious I just play my two favourite Music Shop Chords -

    (low to high)
    4 0 4 0 4 0

    6 0 6 0 6 0

    :D

That's a Paul Gilbert piece called Technical Difficulties.

I'm in your camp. I play the intro to Can't Find My Way Home if I'm trying out an acoustic in a shop and just noodle if it's an electric. Ali's just not self conscious at all in shops. Quite offten there will be other lads in there who try to out-do him, but he kinda blows them away while being blissfully unaware that there's even a contest going on.

Technical Impossibilities, more like! Gilbert is a monster, and probably my favourite 'shredder' because of his demeanour and humour.

Hahah what a cool kid, and a proud Dad :) I like that! I like bragging about my kids too.

I'm not a competitive type at all, so rather than intimidating someone else I'd rather just look silly, hence my minor 2nd chords hehe
