Is there a way I can play barre chords?

Hi I am a beginner with very limited playing ability with a few chords learnt I am right handed and have a right handed acoustic guitar. I have a fused left wrist with no movement at all at the wrist joint. I have difficulty practising for longer than 15 minutes as I get severe pain in my thumb I have tried to learn an couple of bar chords but find it impossible My question is, is it time to switch to a left handed guitar and start from scratch as my ability is in its infancy and have a full range of movement? I am so determined to learn but feel I have hit a bit of a wall. Many thanks. Paul.
