Get it set up properly

I had a worsening buzz centered around the second fret on the e string though it also rears its head on the frets either side.

I thought it might be a dodgy string but a change has made no difference. I suspect the worse rattle is from the bridge end.

I think the safest thing is to get it set up properly (not a Regent purchase ) unless anyone else has a bright and simple solution?!

It's a SP6 if that makes any difference!

I have had an SP6 for a few years now and not experienced any problems with it (other than my playing ability that is) but I have an old Hagstrom acoustic from which I get the occasional rattle. Turned out to be one of the tuning pegs vibrating at certain frequencies. The slightest tweak cures it - not so much as to alter the tuning of course. Don't know what it could be at the bridge though. Just bought a second SP6, cutaway this time on Regents Premier service and it is excellent.

If you can't find the rattle anywhere else, it may be coming from the truss rod. If the guitar is playing okay apart from the rattle, just check that the truss rod isn't actually loose. Don't turn it enough to change the relief, but just a tiny fraction of an inch (or a slightest tweak) to see if it settles in non-rattle mode.

Could be a number of things, including what's been mentioned above, it could be a slightly raised fret somewhere or a nut issue or .. you get the picture.. If you haven't had a set up done then it might well be the best idea. Just mention the problem to the person you get to do the work before hand so that they keep an eye on it.
