I'm experimenting

I'd like to tilt my acoustic upwards slightly so that I can see the fretboard more easily when I'm playing it. Has anyone done this?

I'd be interested in finding out how best this might be done - at the moment I'm experimenting with half a pillow stuffed in a carrier bag and tone on with a strap, but this lacks a certain something in finesse.

Thanks all.

Mate, I would really just try and get used to looking at the fret as it is. If you're finding this hard. either play sat down or shorten your guitar strap so it's closer to you. Either that jsut get used to playing without looking at the fret board. I used to find playing in front of a mirror used to help my technique.

i often play in front of a mirror- it realyl helps

the most important thing is not to bend your neck loads to look at the front of the fretboard- you'll **** your back up...

Get a suede strap that grips all along the inside, then you can tilt the guitar a bit without it trying to slip back again.

I do the same (though not intentionally, there's just a massive mirror in my room) and I find it easier to look in the mirror to see where my hands are raher than the fretboard (sometimes).

Eventually it gets to the stage where the mirror isn't required any more.

    Thanks for the replies.

I play infront of a mirror, too, but when there's no mirror... I'm actually trying to wean myself away from using a mirror.

I have a permanent and serious back problem, so leaning slightly forward isn't such a good idea for me, and playing sitting down is impossible.

    Any advances on suede straps?

    Thanks.
