Has anyone seen the "rave" review in Guitarist?

Chinese made acoustic guitar which even judging by the photos looks mediocre £1070 retail!!!

My questions are...

1.) Has anyone tried one?
2.) Is this more blatent selling on Name?
3.) Is anyone just slightly dubious about the review?

Trouble is finding an Epiphone Masterbilt to try for yourself - I don't know of people stocking them in the UK. That said, the opinions I've seen from people on US guitar forums have been very positive, with some people saying Epiphone is beating parent firm Gibson at its own game with these acoustics.

i've seen in the catalogue, don't know much about acoustics, but given a choice between an epiphone acoustic, and any other guitar for 1070 quid - i'd spend the money on a different guitar 99% of the time!

I'm sceptical of all reviews these days (and not just of guitars), it is, or seems to be the job of magazine journalists to convince you to buy product. That way they keep the manufacturers sweet who leep sending them the nice stuff to review so you keep buying there magazines so they stay in their nice job. But maybe I'm just getting synical in my old age?
haven't tried one or even seen teh review but my oen take on it is that they'd need to be blinding guitars for me to spend that kind of money on one when there are more established names you could buy from for same price. I suppose it's brand snobbery in a way, buthen again I've never dissed Epipohne per se but one is sued to them being in the more budget end of things and this is how they are percieved. Can you imagine trying to sell it on at more than a fraction of what you payed for it if the 'masterbuilt' label doesn't take off and establish a reputation?
I'm guessing they're aimed at people who can't afford the Gibo but really want one so are prepared to go to the nearst thing and still pay a fair amount? Your into bottom end Taylor/ Martin and Avalon territory there and knocking on the door of a custom built Brooke. Really can't see them being right for me.
